Fighting spirits

These days I am pondering the strength of the human spirit, the will to do whatever it takes to fight to live.

Here in the Chesley house, we have a lot of fighters. Watching Jill persevere through such a traumatic accident was awesome to witness. There was not much that would keep her down, she laughed, made others laugh, and took each moment with grace. She had hope, which seems to be  a key ingredient to the fight of the human spirit.

I cannot imagine ever giving up, but I am starting to wonder,  what is the breaking point? Over the holidays, I witnessed a loved one who is struggling with a debilitating disease partake in the very activity that caused the disease in the first place. I cannot fathom or empathize. I haven't been there. What causes a person to give life the bird and just say forget it? Do you reach a point of no return and just decide to knowingly cause further harm to your body leaving you to literally wait for the inevitable?

Watching this made me sad, angry, lonely, confused, bewildered, and much more. Knowing that we have to explain one day to our kids, that is unimaginable. However, this is his choice, and I choose to love him, even if I don't agree with his life choices. Love wins, right? I am often judgmental and struggle to overpower the judging with understanding and love. Damn, it's hard though. It is so much easier to give in to the judgement and holier than though attitude, but the remorse stinks, so I will keep trying to be better than that.

On another note, I think I am bearing my love into shopping, going a little nutso on the Christmas shopping and setting my sights on way to many Pinterest crafts. Hope and ambition is what Pinterest is giving me. Over ambitious? Always. If I end up making anything good, perhaps I will share the results.
The Chesley girls @ way early thirty.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday season thus far! Tonight, Elf will come out more ambitious than ever in his ideas, thanks again to Pinterest!

XOXO,
Amanda

P.S. Remember the Turkey Trot promise? We did it!!! All of the Chesley girls! Jill and I ended up walking most of it, but hey, she has a broken femur!!! Dottie and Mona (my BFF since high school!) ran it. Sophie ran the 1mile with her BFF Anthony! It was a great way to kick off Thanksgiving, I think we have a new tradition in the Chesley house, maybe next year Big Daddy JC will join us. :)
Jill, Mona, Dottie, and Amanda after the run. :)
